Crossing of the Karakum Canal
Visser & Smit Hanab was contracted for the crossing of the KarakumCanal in Turkmenistan as part of the South Yoloton Gas Field Development Project for which a 100km long 56” gas pipeline was constructed.
The crossing of the Karakum Canal in Turkmenistan, the second largest irrigation canal in the world, Was succesfully performed by Visser & Smit Hanab.
The steel gas pipeline had a diameter of 56" (1400mm) and was installed by means of a Horizontal Directional Drilling using a 450 ton drill rig. The total length was 660 meter.
